James Gunn’s Superman is rapidly drawing nearer, DC fans and general people alike are just waiting for the moment James announces something related to the first teaser trailer for one of the most anticipated 2025 movies. Now it’s quite a long since James wrapped filming for the movie, also wrapped on Creature Commandos — Where DCU officially starts from —, releasing on December 5 only on Max.
People liked David Corenswet’s physique as Superman when Superman set photos leaked on the internet. Moreover, he also looks very much like Henry Cavill, so he’s a perfect casting there. In the past, a bunch of actors played Superman, be it Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill.

Among them was Brandon Routh who appeared as the Man Of Steel in the 2006 movie Superman Returns, however, the movie received a good critic score but couldn’t manage to satisfy fans as fans were expecting much of the movie, which led the movie to financial disappointment earning; however $400M was a good number but wasn’t enough for Warner Bros. to justify a sequel to the film that ultimately led to rebooting the film to Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel. Routh continued playing Superman in CW’s Crisis On Infinite Earth television event.
During a panel at ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024, Brandon Routh was asked what advice he would give David Corenswet out of his experience. Brandon Routh responded with a thoughtful and deeply heartfelt answer…..
“I think the biggest thing for me about Superman is always recognizing the non-physical superpowers that he has. It can be cheesy to relate it to the ‘teach a man to fish’ story, but quite literially that is how I see it, and it’s very apropos to being the thing. If you save people all the time, everywhere, maybe they never learn how to save themselves. That doesn’t mean that you don’t save them, but it just means that the teaching, the personality, the aspect, the human communication, the understanding Superman can give us of inclusion.”
Routh further stated, “To me, Superman is pure love; he doesn’t judge, He has to make some hard choices and stop people from doing bad things, but my goal for Superman is that he’s the guy that everyone can be in their person…maybe without all the flying and all the other stuff. But he’s an example, the best of humanity, and he could teach us to do it, not just by his actions, but by calling out the truth.”
Although, There is just one Superman movie — Superman Returns — with Brandon Routh, he will forever be remembered as one of the most iconic and deeply resonant portrayals of Superman, capturing the audiences with his unforgettable charm. Now this legacy will be taken forward by David Corenswet in James Gunn’s Superman, releasing on July 11, 2025, with the first teaser trailer is highly likely to be revealed next month.
