The first DCU project has officially been concluded with the finale of James Gunn’s Creature Commandos aired on Thursday. The show was critically acclaimed and praised by people making it a good foundation for the following projects. When James Gunn announced the first slate of the DCU — Gods & Monsters — back in January 2023, the most anticipated project was apparently Superman followed by ‘Batman: The Brave and The Bold;’ ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold’ is based on the comics by Grant Morrison. The story introduces Bruce Wayne’s son, Damian Wayne, as Robin, who is raised by the League of Assassins and has a complex personality.
James Gunn previously confirmed that The Flash director Andy Muschetti will helm the project, given his take on Ben Affleck’s Batman in The Flash. Andy handled Ben Affleck’s Batman, which is worth that version of Batman; the action sequences that Andy filmed of him looked inspired by Zack Snyder’s vision and made him cool as he should be.
Previously, Andy surprised the fans that They were not doing the particular film for a while, clarifying… “The Brave and The Bold is not happening for a while, and I might make another film before then.” Later James Gunn also confirmed that ‘Batman: The Brave and The Bold’ hasn’t been delayed. Fans were slightly tricked by James Gunn’s words here as it doesn’t mean that the movie will be released soon because it doesn’t have a release date yet. So Andy was right when he said he might make another film before then.
During a new interview with RadioTU, Andy pours more light on the movie confirming that he will direct the project…“There are good intentions for now. [The studio] wants to do the film with me, and I want to do it as well…We are talking about ideas and the story and tone,” Andy expressed during the podcast.
In this podcast, Andy Muschetti — The director of It, a novel adaptation of Stephen King — also sorts out a prolonged discourse that persisted with the people since the rumor of Robert Pattinson’s Batman joining the DCU…“There is a Batman that everyone knows is the Batman that belongs in the new universe. The Batman of Matt Reeves is obvious he’s not from the new universe.” Andy confirmed.
Our take on when ‘Batman: The Brave and The Bold’ might be released

Last year, in December 2024, DC’s Elseworlds ‘The Batman Part ll’ was pushed back yet again out of the blue, which was previously set to release this year. Fans were upset as they now have to wait for 3 years more. In response, James Gunn clarified that it is usual for sequels to take 4 or even 5 years. Now, when Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman: part ll’ is delayed to 2027, and according to Andy’s working on another film, it doesn’t seem that the filming for the film will start this year as many projects are going into production this year alongside Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow. Moreover, James Gunn is wise enough not to release both projects too close to each other. Considering the odds it doesn’t seem that Andy Muschetti’s ‘Batman: The Brave and Bold’ will likely release before 2028.
