James Gunn Teases Superman Cameos in Peacemaker Season 2

Peacemaker season 2

In less than 50 days fans will finally get to see their beloved superhero soar through the sky again after over a decade. As the DCU is shaping up again fans are getting a bunch of news from James Gunn and the crew. The next big project following James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ is Peacemaker season 2, which created quite a buzz by releasing the first teaser trailer 2 weeks ago. In which James will tell the story of how the DCEU is bridging into the DCU.

Recently DC Studios’ Co-Ceo and John Cena sat together with Entertainment Weekly and talked about Peacemaker season 2 and revealed quite a few interesting stuff about the show.

Peacemaker season2

The first thing James started the interview with was that they are removing people’s favorite that many shows miss today and that set the theme for Peacemaker was its song, ‘Do you really wanna, do you really wanna taste it’ by Wig Wam. This might be disheartening for the fans of the show as it sets the show apart from the others and makes it unique among them. But James confirmed they are bringing a new song and credits in its place that would be quite as interesting as this one.

The reading for doing so, as James and John Cena cleared during the interview, was that many characters from season 1 had died, so they didn’t have a choice but to redo it.

“We killed everyone in the season, so we kind of had to — Everyone died!” – James Gunn said.

James also confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that they also changed the whole dance sequence for Peacemaker season 2. Before doing so, James did quite a lot of thinking and chose the sequence that fit the show’s theme.

“I went back and forth an awful lot, And at the end of the day, I decided that we use a new song that’s a little bit more about what the season’s about.” – James Gunn said.

James Gunn Teases Some Surprising Cameos in Peacemaker season 2

Maxwell Lord and Guy Gardner

The most exhilarating thing during the interview was that James said there are going to be some interesting cameos. Not just that but there will be a big cameo at the end of Peacemaker season 2. In the teaser trailer, we have already seen Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl and Nathon Fillion’s Guy Gardner joining the show from ‘Superman’ that points to Superman might turn out to be that cameo.

“We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman. There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show.”

However, James could also introduce a whole new character that would turn out to be one of the major characters in the DCU continuity alongside David Corenswet’s Superman, as there are rumors of James secretly casting Batman for the DCU.

Red St. Wild and Eagly

The last thing they talked about was Peacemaker’s flying pet friend, Eagly and someone is out to hunt him down. Who is none other than that mysterious character that Michael Rooker is playing, which is confirmed to be Red St. Wild.

“His name is Red St. Wild, and he’s the world’s foremost eagle hunter who is on a mission to kill Eagly, We thought Eagly was probably the most popular character from season 1, and so in season 2, he has his own story with his nemesis, played by none other than the despicable Michael Rooker.”– James Gunn.

Peacemaker season 2 is set to premiere on HBO Max on August 21st, just 40 days after James Gunn’s Superman’ release.
