Superman Saga: James Gunn Teases What Comes After Superman

Superman Saga

It’s just been over a month since James Gunn’s Superman was released in theatres and earned an impressive $340M domestically and a disappointing $250M at the worldwide box office. However, Warner Bros, regards the film as overall a success. Now James Gunn has officially announced that the film will be available on digital platforms on August 15.

On asking, James said that he wants people who didn’t get to watch ‘Superman’ in theaters to watch it on digital platform, as the story directly leads into ‘Peacemaker’ season 2.

‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 will also be released on August 21st. The DC Studios’ Co-CEO, director, and the cast of Peacemaker Season 2 attended the premiere: John Cena as Peacemaker, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. We also saw in the teaser that Isabela Merced will appear as Hawkgirl, and Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner will also feature in the show.

“It’s a big part, definitely ‘Superman’ leads directly into ‘Peacemaker’; it should be noted that this is for adults, not for children, but Superman leads into this show and then we have the setting up of all of the rest of the DCU in this season of Peacemaker, it’s incredibly important,” Gunn told The Hollywood Reporter on the carpet. “Lots of guest stars coming up, lots of characters that are showing up that we’ve already met in Superman. I don’t think there’s anything that I’ve ever done that I love more than this season of Peacemaker, so I’m so excited for people to see it.”

The real banger James Gunn dropped at the premiere of ‘Peacemaker’ season 2 was, when talking to The Hollywood Reporter, James Gunn revealed the upcoming project that he’s been working on, saying: “I’ve already finished the treatment for the next story in what I’ll call the ‘Superman Saga’. The treatment is done, which means a very, very worked out treatment. I’m working on that and hopefully going into production on that not too far away from today,” he stated.

Talking to Collider, James Gunn revealed more details about the project: “We’re scheduling it now. I’m totally done with the treatment. My treatments are incredibly intense. They’re not regular treatments. They’re 60-page treatments with dialogue and everything. And so, now I’m just turning that into a script. We’re planning out when we’re going to shoot that. It’s going to be much sooner rather than later.”

It’s still not clear if it is a direct sequel to ‘Superman’ or will feature Superman as a lead character amongst other superheros. The time will tell though as the movie might go into production till next year. For now DC fans are on a feast as ‘Superman’ has been released on digital and ‘Peacemaker’ season 2 follows just one week apart, on August 21st.
