Finally! The preview for the teaser trailer of James Gunn’s Superman was released yesterday, and now the trailer of one of the most anticipated movies of 2025 has been released. A few days ago James Gunn officially announced posting a motion poster followed by a clip about the time of the trailer. The motion poster instantly wreaked havoc on the internet as how hopeful, optimistic brimming with compassion it sounded is just an understatement. John Murphy created the score of Superman with certain notes taken from John Williams’ score that was used in previous movies, from Christopher Reeve’s starrer Superman: The Movie to Brandon Routh’s starrer ‘Superman: Returns.’

Breaking Down The Superman Teaser Trailer

Superman Teaser Trailer

Superman trailer kicks off with Superman falling from the sky onto the snowy ground, beaten by unknown powers, what comes to surprise is that he is whining! This clearly shows off James Gunn’s vision that he is trying to showcase him vulnerable as f**k; not like how Zack Snyder portrayed him in his movies. The next shot we see is of Clark Kent who is coming into Daily Planet for work. The next shot introduces us to what James Gunn later confirmed: Krypto, which we have just seen in comics or animation. That shot takes us back to Superman lying on the ground, whistling to call Krypto over, and says “ Krypto, home, take me home,” This scene was the definition of overwhelming adoration and emotion. The scene that stole people’s hearts was when a child plants a flag of Superman’s symbol of hope in the ground chanting “Superman, Superman,” pinning hopes on Superman.

We also got the first glimpse of Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor who’s always been a longtime Superman enemy, but we just saw a few shots of him. This trailer offers us a lot by showing us all of the heroes: Nathon Fillion’s Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific, Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl comes together in a scene that starts with people disdaining him and throwing stuff at Superman but regardless of people’s behavior he just keeps moving inside a building where they all come together. We see Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane and Clark Kent meet for the first time, Pruitt Taylor Vince’s Jonathan Kent and Clark’s emotional moment, at their farm, in which David Corenswet looked so good.

We see a Kaiju wreaking havoc in Metropolis and Superman facing it off; in that particular scene, we see a full glimpse at Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl flying and possibly attacking that Kaiju that is blowing fire in the city. We see Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific surrounded by a bunch of soldiers with him protecting himself by his beams. Another shot features Ultraman thrusting Superman off across what seems to be a baseball field. We have seen set photos of that particular field shot where we see Maria Gabriela de Faría’s Engineer fighting Superman, but in the trailer, she was supposedly missing. We get a quick look at Metamorpho. In the end, we see a shot where, in a building, Lois and Clark hug each other which points Superman off to a fight. Although Some familiar faces among which first come to mind is Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr; looking great in the set images, was missing in the trailer.

The trailer looked so promising by showcasing Superman as a symbol of hope; so many emotions were poured down as if a garland of pearls broken and scattered; however, James being James just like he was with Marvel’s ‘Guardians Of The Trilogy.’ David Corenswet shines there as stated by James Gunn “David Corenswet will blow people the f**k away as Superman,” back in October at New York Comic-con. Superman flies into theaters on July 11, 2025.
