Not a single month goes by without DC Studios or James Gunn making an announcement that just ignites the spark of fans’ expectations from the studios. So James Gunn announced on Tuesday a new project from DC Studios that is something fans didn’t expect. James wrote down a big post about the project, revealing what the project is about, who is going to develop it, and everything.
“Over the moon excited to announce the newest DC Studios/Warner Bros Pictures Animation greenlit film for theaters, DYNAMIC DUO, the story of Robin… or should I say, Robins, as in Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. The first feature film from the visionary Swaybox, a mix of animation, puppetry, and CGI, a script from the wonderfully talented Matt Aldrich, produced with our partners at Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho. This is something special.”
Director, Producer, and Developers of Dynamic Duo
Matt Reeves’ production company, 6th & Idaho, will produce the movie, but that doesn’t mean it will be canon to DC’s Elseworlds projects, The Batman and The Penguin. Matthew Aldrich serves as a writer, while Swaybox Animations will handle the animation of the film, with co-founders Arthur Mintz and Theresa Andersson directing and producing. Swaybox has accomplished different approaches to stop-motion animation CG animation, also in Puppetry.
Along with Andersons, DC Studios’ co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are also the movie producers, and Michael Uslan is the executive producer.
What is Dynamic Duo?

The film will portray the childhood friendship between Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, orphaned best friends, dreaming of a better for themselves, but the different ideas for the future will separate them, with Dick eventually turning out to be Nightwing and Jason, Red Hood. The story will explore the bond between two Robins instead of the typical, Batman and Robin.
The release date for the movie is not yet disclosed as of writing this as the movie is in early development.
