There was a rumor circulating around the world that Josh Brolin, known for playing Thanos in Marvel Studios Avengers films and Cable in Marvel’s Deadpool 2, has been in talks with DC Studios for the role of Hal Jordan, Green Lantern in HBO’s upcoming series ‘Lanterns.’
Now talking with ComicBook, Josh confirmed that he had been in talks with the Studios for this specific role which he eventually turned down later. While talking to ComicBook about his upcoming movie Brothers, in which he stars alongside big names of the pop world, Game Of Thrones star Peter Dinklage, Brandan Fraser, Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy star, his aunt May, aka Marisa Tomei, and more.
“You know what? Green Lantern didn’t work out, but that’s okay,” Brolin told us. “It’s working out. Who is it going to be, Kyle Chandler? I love him as an actor, I think he’s wonderful, actually. And, you know, we’ll see what’s down the line, man.”
Josh said in this statement that Green Lantern didn’t work out for him (for reasons he did not disclose), but he is open to working with the DC Studios on another project in the future. He praised Kyle Chandler who was cast as Hal Jordan stating that he’s a great actor and I love him as an actor.
Producer, Showrunner, Writers and Story of Lanterns

Chris Mundy, the creator of Ozark, serves as the producer and showrunner for DC’s ‘Lanterns’ and also as the co-writer for the show alongside Damon Lindelof, who has previously worked on Watchmen and The Leftovers, and Tom King, who is a writer at DC Comics.
‘Lanterns’ is going to be a murder mystery that Hal Jordan and John Stewart will solve together, which seems to be like HBO’s True Detective: Night Country.
The show doesn’t seem like any other typical Superhero show where they fight villains and defend the Earth from their poor intentions. However, we might see them to and fro using power to help themselves solve the mystery.
As of writing, there is no release date yet for the show, as it is early in development, and filming is said to begin in early 2025.
